RE-ENTRY PERMIT

RE-ENTRY PERMIT

REMINDER:

Securing a re-entry permit before leaving the country is the student’s responsibility. The school will not assist with this process. Failure to do so will result in ED Visa cancellation.

The Immigration Officers at the airport/border have gotten so strict. Ensure that you prepare yourself for random questions about your course details, they might test your skills or ask for documents to prove that you are a student.

Example of Basic Questions:
  • What is the name of your school/teacher?
  • What course are you studying? What is the duration? What is your class schedule?
Example of Basic Documents:
  • Certificate of Enrolment
  • Copy of Visa Letter

Immigration officer might also ask you for photos while you are in class. Feel free to take photos and videos during your class to keep on your mobile phone.

Moreover, you may also need to prepare proof of funds (cash/bank statement) not less than 20,000 THB to prove that you are able to spend when you enter Thailand.

These are just case-by-case considerations, and we want to ensure that our students experience no issues when re-entering Thailand. Stay prepared to ensure smooth entry back into the country. We strongly recommend that you request school documents from our admin team in advance

What is a Re-Entry Permit?

In Thailand, a re-entry permit is necessary for foreigners who hold long-term visas, including ED (Education) visas, and plan to leave the country temporarily. Without a re-entry permit, your visa will be automatically cancelled when you exit Thailand.

There are two types of re-entry permits:

  1. Single Re-Entry Permit: Allows you to exit and re-enter Thailand once.
  2. Multiple Re-Entry Permit: Allows you to exit and re-enter Thailand multiple times within the visa validity period.

How to Apply for a Re-Entry Permit:
• You can apply at the Bangkok Immigration Office in the Chaengwattana Government Complex or at international airports (e.g., Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang).
• Documents required:
1. Passport (with a valid ED visa)
2. Completed application form (TM8)
3. A passport-sized photo
4. Application fee (around 1,000 THB for a single entry and 3,800 THB for multiple entries)

Important Notes
• The re-entry permit does not extend your stay in Thailand, it only preserves your ED visa when you leave.
• Be sure to apply for it before leaving the country.
